With the Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as 3D TV and HD (acronym city!), you'd think that by now with market penetration as well as being over 4 years old, the most used console in Japan would be either of those two, right? After all, with the technology and graphical goodness, games can be so much more immersive than they were even a few years ago. But something to consider is that no matter how old a particular game is, if the storytelling is spot-on and the immersion factor is high, you will come back and play it. I still play the NES classic Metroid and have a blast. The game is so well done it just sucks me in. And this was in the day of 8 bit graphics! In a recent survey in Japan, the most used console still is (get ready) the PS2. This proves to me at least, that you can have all the graphics in the world but if your story sucks, you won't be making sales. 70 percent of those polled still favor the PS2. This is a testament to the longevity of the system itself (a fact that is bolstered by Sony still supporting it....unlike Microsoft with the first Xbox).Source: The Silent ChiefADD ARTICLE:
